South West MEP to launch Christmas Without Cruelty

21 November 2014

Molly Scott Cato, Green MEP for the South West, will be the special guest at the popular annual Christmas Without Cruelty Festival in Exeter this Saturday [1]. The event is coordinated by Animal Aid South West and offers hundreds of different products from a wide range of traders or charities, all working to reduce violence to people, animals and the planet. The event aims to mix a fun day out with a strong educational element. Molly Scott Cato said:

“I am thrilled to have been invited to open this wonderful and increasingly popular event. As a green economist I have always been passionate about the important role small businesses and enterprises can play both in promoting ethical standards and helping create local jobs and a resilient localised economy. I also know that the South West is a region with a fantastic number of charities that are working to improve the lives of people, animals and the environment. I’m looking forward to seeing some of the fantastic products and groups there and chatting with the people involved.”

Molly will officially open the Christmas Without Cruelty event with a short speech at midday before spending time looking at stalls and talking to stall holders and members of the public.

Sidmouth-based organizer Mark Gold said:

“We’re delighted by the success of Christmas Without Cruelty. Both stallholders and visitors now travel from far and wide to be part of it, but we’ve also been keen to maintain local links with groups, craftspeople and creative food companies.”
