Greens offer a real alternative

Steve was a Labour Councillor on Sheffield City Council. He left Labour as he felt that Blair was wasting a historical majority. 'It is clear Labour Governments create a society where the rich get richer at the expense of the poor. The Iraq War convinced me to find another party.'

Steve joined the Green Party for two reasons:

  • He supported their strong environmental policies. He is a long term member of Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth.
  • He was convinced by the Greens' commitment to social justice.

A local campaigner

Steve is involved in a number of campaigns in the Yorkshire and Humber region including:

  • Supporting the windfarm at Sheephouse Heights, at Stocksbridge on the border of Sheffield and Barnsley
  • Stopping night flights at Robin Hood (Doncaster) Airport
  • Calling for a proper memorial for the Hillsborough football stadium disaster.
