Green Party Autumn Conference 2024, 6-8 September, Manchester Central
Plenary sessions are the main bread and butter of our conferences, as this is where we debate and vote on the reports, papers and motions in the Conference ‘Agenda’. All members who are registered for conference are encouraged to attend and nothing is scheduled against it. There are usually five such sessions during a typical three-day conference, each lasting around two hours.
The debate follows rules as set out in the Standing Orders for the Conduct of Conference (SOCC).
There is some terminology and some procedures used which might seem confusing at first if you are not used to political, union or similar conferences.
Reading the SOCC and this document explaining the use of Procedural Motions at Conference will help.
If you are new to Green Party Conferences, you may want to watch a recording of a past plenary (start 24 mins in) to get an idea of what to expect.
