Green Party leader backs Green MP over arrest at peaceful fracking protest

19 August 2013

Natalie Bennett, leader of the Green Party of England & Wales, said, "The Green Party applauds Caroline Lucas MP for her brave stance against fracking.

"We are all steadfastly behind Caroline and her son who were peacefully protesting when they were arrested.

"We have watched Caroline try to engage with her fellow politicians on the subject of fracking which has the potential to release more C02 in the atmosphere and create more dangerous climate change.

"We have recently seen rising amounts of C02 in the atmosphere and we are likely to see open water at the North Pole.

"We owe it to future generations to engage with the public on the devastating effects of climate change and we are extremely proud of Britain's first Green MP, Caroline Lucas."
